| In September 2000 The Fountain House Learning Centre was established with the intention of supporting the education of children with specific learning difficulties through group tutoring. During the years we have also worked with other types of difficulties such as low cognitive ability, Asperger’s Syndrome, Noonan Syndrome and many other conditions; our specialist teaching being supported with neurodevelopmental therapies.
At Fountain House we believe that many characteristics of a specific learning difficulty offer positive developmental potential for the individual. For example, dyslexics often have the capacity to engage with the world in a holistic way and so make excellent designers; similarly dyspraxics can be highly individual and often make talented orators. They are in good company; Albert Einstein, Hans Christian Anderson and Leonardo Da Vinci are all examples of people who have overcome their difficulties and capitalised on their abilities.
In August 2009 we moved to our new premises in Edgware; our ethos remaining the same as we moved into our 10th year.
